On October 20, 2011, letters were mailed to applicants who applied between June 16, 2010 and September 1, 2010. The deadline to have packets and verifications completed and turned into our office is November 7, 2011.
At this time, the average wait time is 14-17 months. If you have any questions about the waiting list process, please call our office at 801-852-7080.
I am in need of housing in the Provo area. I am disabled with a total income from Social Security of $136.00 per month. I have no where to go and no prospects for employment as a result of the disability (I was run down by a UTA bus on 12-20-2004) They have paid nothing and every asset I had has been used to pay the medical bills in anticipation of a promised reimbursement by UTA.
Please help. The e-mail address is only available to me at the library so don’t be disappointed if the response is a little slow.
Thanks
Thank you for your questions about Provo Housing. We have two basic programs through our agency: Public Housing and the Housing Choice Voucher. With Public Housing, the Housing Authority would be your landlord. We have duplexes, four-plexes and townhomes that are at scattered sites around the city of Provo.
The Housing Choice Voucher program is a program where you would rent from a landlord, and a portion of your rent would be subsidized by the Housing Authority. With both programs you would pay 30% of your gross adjusted income towards rent.
Both Public Housing and the Housing Choice Voucher programs have a Provo resident priority. This means we give a priority to households who currently live or work in the city of Provo. With the Housing Choice Voucher program, non-Provo residents will never get to the top of the waiting list because there are enough qualified Provo residents who apply for the waiting list. Non-Provo residents can qualify for Public Housing, but only after we have exhausted our waiting list of current Provo residents.
If you would like to apply for either or both of our programs, you would need to come into our office and fill out our applications. To take your application, we will need readable copies of each Social Security Card for each member of your household.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at either contact@provohousing.org or 801-852-7080.
My Name is Ebony Clark and I live in Newark NJ and I was wondering if I can get an application mailed to my attention so I can mail all documents back before the wait list closes.
